Thank you for your letter and for your interest in Mother's illness.
Although I expect that she will get up again so do not feel that I shall lose her,
yet she is of course seriously sick, or I would not leave my work. I do think she
is a little stronger this week, and am hoping that in a few days more I can leave for
short trips returning home in between times. I will do my best to get to Portland
soon.
