ce, Mrs. Marjorie Wallace, in her volunteer services to the personnel of Wakkanai Air Station, has clearly demonstrated the community oriented type of service which the Red Cross stands for. M Very shortly after her arrival at this base, she responded to a need for volunteer professional nursing assistance at the Base Dispensaryo She very regularly and faithfully assisted in providing nursing care to in- patients as well as providing needed support in the reception, examination, etc. of out-patients in the Air Force Clinic. When she became aware of a need for instruction of expectant parents at this base community, she eagerly undertook to attend a Red Cross course to prepare instructors to teach a Mother and Baby Care course. She successfully recruited another professional nurse to attend the Instructor's course also. Mrs. Wallace was primarily responsible for the very effective organization, planning and teaching of the first Mother and Baby Care course presented at this base in more than a year. She did this in addition to her activities as a case worker and volunteer at the Dispensary. Recently, Mrs. Wallace willingly assumed a new volunteer role in the Dependent School Health Program although this situation was foreign to her, she was most willing to learn and has readily assumed the new professional responsibilities. At the present time Mrs. Wallace is very active in the School Health Program, she is an instructor in a continuing series of Mother and Baby Care classes as well as her regular duties as a Case Worker. In all her volunteer activities she has displayed sincerity, enthusiasm and a genuine interest in providing a high level of professional knowledge and skill as well as a sincere and understanding interest in the needs of individuals and families.
