Miss Caroline A. Weaver,
217 East 35th St.,
New York City.
My dear Miss Weaver:
I beg to acknowledge receipt of your letter
and may I thank you for your words of sympathy. It has, indeed,
been a sad loss to us all. particularly at this time when one
needs all the affectionate sympathy they can secure.
I am glad to hear that you are interested in
the work in Italy for I am personally fond of that country myself.
Miss Mary C. Gardner, who is in charge of the Public Health Divi-
sion of the Department of Nursing at Red Cross Headquarters, is
expecting to go to Italy and is preparing a group of nurses to go
with her. I should be very glad to recommend you to her. If,
however, she has completed the number that she requires we have a
recent cable asking for twenty-five more and can easily send you.
I hope you have no brother in the service, as this would bar you,
I had no trouble in recalling you.
Believe me as
Very truly yours,
CDN :Sc
Director, Bureau Field Nursing Service.
