Miss Blanche F. Webb,
300 West York Street,
Norfolk, Virginia.
My desr Miss Webb:
I am, indeed, distressed to hear of your loss, and
I can well understand your feeling of desolation. Please do not
worry about the golf bag and its contents, that was a small loss; in
comparison to what you have experienced. I am sorry that you did not
carry a larger insurance, but possibly there were practical reasons
why you were not able to do this.
How fortunate however, that you saw the blaze,
otherwise
you
and your guest - have been trapped in e burking build-
ing - there are always compensa tions. On the other hand, you have
spent so much of yourself, your money and your time in makingithe
cottage attractive and habitable that I am sure you must feel quite
desolated. I hope neither your guest house nor servants quarters
were burned. This at least leaves a nucleus upon which to make a new
beginning. Anowing your temperament I feel sure you are already
making some sort of plans in thit connection.
1
wish that I could offer you more than my sympathy
at this time, but at least you can rest assured you have the latter.
As always
Sincerely yours,
National Director) Nursing Service.
