No one is being asked to give any money to this memorial, but friends of
the Unit are being told about it so that if they wish to have a part in
building up this fund, the opportunity will be given to them to do 30.
You will be touched and pleased, as I was, to know that Mrs.
Brockinridge's daughter has given to this fund the life insurance money
which came to her and also the salary checks which her nother had received.
I am sure that your Alumnae Association would wish to be included in
this expression of admiration and respect for the courage of the first
group of nurses to respond in this war. Mrs. Helen R. Scudder, 2900 o
Street, N. M., Washington, D. C., is receiving the gifts that are being
made to this fund, and she will be very happy to receive and acknowledge
a gift if your Alumnae Association decides it would like to make one.
Checks should be made payable to the Ruth Breckinridge Memorial Fund.
Sincerely yours,
Mary Beard
