15 February, 1943 26 Hillborn Avenue Swarthmore, Pa A.R.C. ROOM RECEIVED Miss Virginia Dunbar FEB 17 1040 Assistant Director Referred Nursing Service American Red Cross Washington, D. C. nursing Dear Miss Dunbar: In reply to your letter dated February 10, I am particularly interested to know that my marital status does not hinder me from join- ing the Army Nursing Corps, as I have contacted a lawyer and he states that it will take at least three months to obtain an annulment, or divorce and he also states that it is not compulsory to use any name other than Catherine J. Wilson. As the need for Army Nurses is acute, I would like to enlist in the Army Nursing Corps, as soon as possible. I would like to enlist for overseas duties, wherever the need is greatest, preferably Africa. I am enclosing a copy of the reference given to me upon leaving England by Miss Alice Olson, and also a copy of the report of the work achieved during my stay in Glasgow, for the American Red Cross, after the American Red Cross Harvard Field Unit had disolved. I am returning the cape and coat to Headquarters, as requested, and will wait for instructions from the office of the Services to the Armed Forces as to the disposition of the other uniform and overcoat which I have in my possession. Waiting to hear from you, I remain Sincerely yours, Catherni J. Wilson Catherine J. Wilson cjw:mjw
