OFFICE OF CIVILIAN DEFENSE
Honolulu, T. H.

Miss Mary Beard, Director,
American Red Cross Nursing Service,
Washington, D. C.
My dear Miss Beard:
Re: MISS ELIZABETH WRIGHT
Miss Elizabeth Wright is being tried out in surgery, but Miss
Wilcox and Miss Wilde feel that she is not of supervisory caliber. She
worked at Sacred Hearts Hospital before going to Kauai, and from Miss
Young's report she wept several times. I have received a letter from her
requesting transfer to Honolulu, but am unable to make such an arrangement
when the chief nurse in Honolulu will not approve of exchanging one of
their good nurses for her. I make this report because it may be the pre-
lude to a future loss from our nursing staff.
Mrs. David Y. K. Akana
Territorial Supervisor, Nursing Activities
