Miss Elizabeth Wright
3177 Magnolia Street
Corpus Christi, Texas
My dear Miss Wright:
Thank you for returning your pink form so promptly. We are
now recruiting more nurses for service in Hawaii and will be glad
to consider your appointment to serve with this group if you can
arrange your affairs so that you would be able to leave October 1
or shortly thereafter.
Since your appointment would, of course, depend upon the
approval of your physical condition by our Red Cross medical
advisor, we are enclosing a form for your physical. Please arrange
for a thorough examination as a foreign assignment would be unwise
unless your physical condition is now excellent. We urge that you
take the responsibility of impressing your physician with this fact.
Select your own physician and inform him that the Red Cross is pre-
pared to pay for your examination, not to exceed $5.00. His bill, if
there is one, should be submitted to this office in care of the
Nursing Service. Your teeth should be in good condition so that you
will not be in need of any immediate dental work. If you will be
available by October 1 please return the physical form as soon as
possible so that we can submit it for approval and if approved, com+
plete the rest of the credentials necessary for your appointment to
service.
Although we want, to get you ready for departure as soon as possible,
do not give up your present position until we are sure that your physical
condition is approved and more final arrangements are made. If you wish
to talk the situation over with your employer to determine your possible
release date so that arrangements can be made for your successor, that is,
of course, up to your.
Please remember to keep us informed of your current address and phone
number at all times so that we may contact you by phone or wire whenever
it may be necessary. Also please wire, collect, whether you can or cannot
be available by October 1.
Sincerely yours,
A/b
