    "ocrText": "July 3, 1942\nMiss Elizabeth Wright\n1113 South Alamo\nSan Antonio, Texas\nMy dear Miss Wei ght:\nYour recent letter to Miss Beard has been referred to me for\nreply. I am sorry to hear that you have been rejected by the Army\nNurse Corps for service with the Unit. However, it does seem that\na diet advised by the Mayo Clinic would be a stiffactory one to\nfollow and if you stick with it you will probably find that you\nwill accomplish a loss of weight at no physical disadvantage.\nAs you are still interested in foreign service, I am wondering\nif you would like to consider service with our Red Cross unit in Hawaii.\nSince this unit is sponsored by the Anayican Red Cross we do not have\nto hold to Army regulations in considering nurses for appointment. Of\ncourse, it would be necessary for you to have your physical examination\nrepeated and submit report for same for approval by our Red Cross physician.\nShould your physical be approved you would undoubtedly be eligible for\nappointment to the service.\nEnclosed is a general information sheet which will give you more\ndetailed information about it. Will you please fill out and return the\nenclosed form and we shall be glad to keep your name on the reserve\nlist for consideration for appointment whenever more nurses are needed.\nPlease keep us informed of your current address at all times so that we\nmay be able to get in touch with you whenever necessary.\nSincerely yours,\n(Mrs.) Ernestine B.
