My Dear Miss Beard:
nursing
I followed your suggestion some time ago and applied
for admittance to the 56 Evacuation Unit which was being formed
at Fort Sam Houston or rather at Baylor University at Dallas Texas.
My physical examination found me overweight and I was rejected.
I am on a diet that was given me at the Mayo C linic
some time ago and I know that I shall fall off rapidly and to no
physical disadvantage. I would like so much to be of service to
our boys any where in the world that I shall be needed. I will go
to Panama, Iceland, Greenland, Australia, Ireland, Africa or anywhere.
I am a high school graduate. St. Mary's Academy, NotreDame In
I am a college graduate, St. Mary's College NotreDame Ind. Witha Major
in Nursing Education and a Minor in Education. I am a graduate nurse
having graduated from Seton Infirmary in Austin Texas in I922. I am
registered in Texas No. 7324 ( I942) New Mexico. and
Indiana 3804 for I942. I entered the red cross this year my No. is
H.D. 4396.
I know that I am forty years of age but I do not look or feel
it. I have spent my Nursing yeras in a convent and only left in order the
that I could be of some service to my country. I can not believe that
my experience, health and education that I am useless at a time like
when we must all pull togeather. I have a brother in the Pacific and and
another in the army just about ready to go overseas.
If I can not serve as a Nurse could I serve in some other
capacity. Please let me know soon.
Most sincerely,
Elizabish Wright
