March 17, 1942 Miss Elizabeth Wright 1113 South Alamo San Antonio, Texas My dear Miss Wright: I notice with interest your message on the bottom of your annual address questionnaire which has just been returned to this office. I wish very much I could give you the definite assurance that you are still eligible for assignment with the Military. There seems to be a discrepancy on your date of birth. On your questicansire you have indicated October 31, 1902 and on the application which you filed in December 1941 you indicated your birthday as October 31, 1901. If you can let us know which is the correct birthday it is possible we might be able to transfer you to the First Reserve for the balance of this year. I suggest that you send to us your birth certificate which will prove to us con- clusively which is the correct birthday. In any event, inasmuch as you are so eager to sérve I suggest that you get in touch with the Surgeon of your Corps Area, whose office is located at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, or if you are interest in service with one of the overseas units, it is barely possible you might receive an assignment with Evacuation Hospital No. 56 which is being organized by the Baylor University Hospital in Dallas. Even though you may be over 40, exceptions are made for special assignments in these Units so that you may qualify for such an assign- ment although you may not be considered for assignment to service in this country. Sincerely yours, Gertrude S. Banfield Asst. Director, Nursing Service GSB/mb
