THE AMERICAN RED CROSS PACIFIC DIVISION HEADQUARTERS To Miss Clara D. Noyes, Director, Date March 20, 1922. Nursing Service. From Miss Lillian L. White Subject I am attaching correspondence with Alma Wrigley which is practically self-explanatory. At a Veterans' Bureau Conference in San Francisco January 5th, Dr. Allen, Chief Officer at Arrowhead, told our Director of Hospital Social Service that he had just received a telegram from Arrowhead that Miss Wrigley had received notice of transfer and evinced much surprise; not hearing from Miss Wrigley, I supposed she had not moved after all, but the matter of the forgery of her name was brought to my attention by Miss Minnie Taylor, who has always stood well in California and who is now our Red Cross Instructor in Riverside, California; she was, and is, extremely indignant 80 I wrote Miss Wrigley with the enclosed as the result. Miss Wrigley has stood for the right at Arrowhead and although her methods may have appealed to those in charge and to the Bureau as possibly too radical, nevertheless, a forgery of one's name is a pretty momentous question and if not thoroughly looked into would, I am sure react badly on the service. Miss Wrigley has many friends among prominent lay people and nurses also, and I can't see how she can leave a stone unturned to right this matter if only, as she says for the good of other nurses. I don't know if, officially, you can enter into this matter, but certainly Miss Wrigley is a Red Cross Nurse of years standing and while we have no authority after a nurse's assignment, still this thing could happen again and it seems to me involves more than internal hospital affairs. Sincerely yours, Lucian Lewture Lillian L. White, R.N., Director, Nursing Service. LLW. KM no correspondence m parket re this matter only have record of transfer to u.s. P.M.S. James
