subject for discussion it seemed appropriate that the Nursing Service should be represented. I cannot understand the shott sightedness of some of the present policies and procedures. In September, for the first time in two years all the Division Directors of Nursing came to National Headquarters for a conferenc preceddaggthe National Convention. It was certainly helpful to us and I think the Directors felt that it las well worth while. The Convention was attended by something under a thousand people and as fairly successful. Everything here is about as usual, the present excitement in the District is the Reclassification Bill which places the nurses in the Government in the class with Scrub women ,houskeepers, stenographers etc. Viss innegerode is putting up the fight of her life and that is saying something, it is a very far reaching matter and of course serious, if the thing goes through I believe the nurses of the A.H.A may have to fight it out in Congress,if iss MOB efforts are of avail, it will certainly be winning a big fight, not that the care about standards (except prehaps the Doctors and they are not all of men them keen to recognise us as arprofession), but the salary is what effects them, they will have to give the nurses as such the appropriate salary. This is a long letter,I trust that before many months you will be with us again,I should think a little of the tropics would go a long way. hen this reaches you it will be within two ot three weeks of Christmas,so here are ny best wishes for a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, Very sincerely yours, Assistant to the irector, Nursing Service.
