August 27, 1926. Miss Agnes H. Von Kurowsky, c/o Sanitary Engineer, U.S. N.C., Port au Prince, Hait1. My dear Miss Von Kurowsky, Your letter to Miss Butler, in her absence, has been referred to me. It was very nice to hear from you and to know that you have so far found the work pleasant, and sur- roundings agreeable. I had not thought of Miss LeGros, although I re- call your mentioning her name, but 12 she were willing to come either to the East Coast, or West, or a passage could be a.r- ranged at moderate expense through the Canal, I see no reason why we should not place her on the list. While Miss Moser states she has agreed to stay for six months or a year longer, and it looks now as if Miss Authier had also reached the same decision, for a cable from Dr. Butler stated that only one ad- ditional nurse need be sent, we are therefore sending Miss Helm. If Miss Authier withdraws another one will be needed. Conse- quently I am writing to Miss LeGros to see if she would be in terested. It seems to me I recall that she speaks French very well. Dr. Butler is expecting to be in Washington in Septem- ber, at which time I will discuss the general situation with gim. Do write to us occasionally and send us a real story about the place, people and the work. I recall that you can write a good, descriptive article and we need material of that sort in order to keep people interested in the Red Cross, the work of our nurses, as well as in Haiti and our relation thereto. We are having wonderful weather to-day, which domes like a cooling drink to a thirsty man, for we have had two weeks of steady rain and consequently I wish that you might see Washington under these circunstances. It is as green and beautiful as early Spring. Very sincerely yours, CDN:R. 333 National Director, Red Cross Nursing
