FORM NO 222 min THE AMERICAN RED CROSS NATIONAL HEADQUARTERS WASHINGTON, D. C. Give information INTER-OFFICE to rui LETTER Dear Date June 10, 1918. To Miss Delano, Nursing Department From L. J. Hunter, Deputy Comptroller Subject We recently approved for payment voucher covering living expenses of Miss Agnes H. von Kurowsky while awaiting passport in New York City. We under- stand that Miss Kurowsky was going abroad as a Red Cross nurse. In order that there will be no possibility of a duplicate payment from our branch office in New York, we have advised them of our action. We are in receipt of a reply from New York, and we quote the following herewith for your information: WW have not, up to this time been called on by the Nursing Department to make any payments to their personnel going abroad. The only payments we have made for the Nursing Department have been their payrolls in this office, goods purchased for their equipping room and the charges for handling such goods. If at any time the Nurses Department desires us to make payments such as that spoken of in your letter of the 5th, will you please instruct them to tell us whose signature to accept in approval of vouchers?
