CARTO Certificate of Record To All Whom it May Concern: Bequeathed to every American Preserved to us by the valor is a priceless logacy of the Boys in Blue -: THIS CERTIFIES that CHARLES SEAVEY :- Enlisted from Androscoggin County, Maine, On February 28, 1864, to serve three years or during the war, and was mustered into the United States service at Augusta, Maine, as a Private of Captain Amos F. Noyes' COMPANY "B", 32ND REGIMENT MAINE VOLUNTEER INFAN- TRY, Colonel Mark F. Wentworth commanding. This regiment was organized under the call of President Lincoln, dated February 1, 1864, and with the 31st Maine, ren- dezvoused at Augusta. The 32nd was recruited in the Counties of Cumberland, Androscoggin, Franklin, Lincoln, Oxford, Sagadahoo and York, and a regimental organization was completed May 6, 1864 with the following field officers:- Mark F. Wentworth, Colonel; John M. Brown, Lieutenant Colonel; Arthur Deering, Major. The regiment left the State by detachments during the months of April and May, 1864, moving to Washington, D. C., where it became united, and was assigned to the 2nd Brigade (General S. G. Griffin's), 2nd Division (General R. B. Potter's (, 9th Army Corps, during its service taking part in engagements as follows:- Wilderness, Spottsylvania, North Anna, Totopotomoy, Bethesda Church, Cold Harbor, Siege and Assault of Petersburg, Mine Explosion, Weldon Railroad, Poplar Spring Church, Fort Stedman, Fall of Petersburg, Fort Mahone, Va., and a number of minor engagements and skirmishes, at all times performing gallant and faithful duty, both on the march and in battle, suffering many hardships, losing two hundred and two men by death in the service It was consolidated with the 31st Maine, by Special Order, No. 245, War Department, December 12, 1864, where it was mustered out August 20, 1865. The said Charles Seavey was transferred to Company "B", 31st Maine, December 12, 1864. He was wounded at Fort Hell, Va., by gunshot on top of head, and was confined in General Hospital at City Point, Va., until able for duty, then rejoined his regiment He received an HONORABLE DISCHARGE at Alexandria, Va., on the 15th day of July, 1865, by reason of close of the war. He was enrolled on October 14, 1868, at Topeka, Kan., in Company "A", 19th Kansas Cavalry, State Militia, mustered October 28, 1868, and mustered out at Fort Hayes, Kan., April 8, 1869, to take effect April 18, 1869. He is a son of John W. and Rachael Seavey, and was born in Boston, Mass., on the 29th of November, 1848. He was united in marriage to Mary L. Dye, at Jacksonville, Fla., from which union were born four children, three of whom are living, viz:- Charles Grace and May. His second marriage was to Maria Garlough. at Sacramento, Cal., May 21, 1890, from which union were born two children, one of whom is living, viz:- Levy. These facts are thus recorded and preserved for the benefit of all those who may be interested.
