To the Monorable Superior
Now in Session at Litchfield, within and for the County of Litchfield.
The Petition of Alexander Grosjean of Silehfield
in said County humbly showeth, that he is a foreigner, a subject
Souis A compare of Finance
of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland :
That before the Clerk of the Subgring
Court for Citchfuld Co on the 22 day of Sept. 1857 he declared his intention
to become a citizen of the United States, and to renounce forever, all allegiance and fidelity to every foreign
Priuce, Potentate, State and Sovereignty whatever-and particularly to
douis stapolion Emport France
of the United Kingdom of Great Britain-and Ireland, of whom he was before a subject :
that he has resided within the United States five years at least, and in the State of Connecticut one year at least,
and that during said five years, he has behaved as a man of good moral character, attached to the principles of the
Constitution of the United States, and well disposed to the good order and welfare of the same.
And praying this Court, upon finding the facts hereinbefore alleged to be true, to admit him to becomo a Citizen
of the United States, agreeably to the provisions of the Acts of Congress in such case made and provided.
And your Petitioner, as in duty bound, will ever pray.
