398 At a Superior Court, holden at Litchfleld, in and for the County of Litchfield, in the State of hundred and Connecticut, on the 4th Tuesday January of in of Lord thousand been the year our one eight PRESENT-Hox. Origin of Leymon guidge the it Remembered, 25th That on hundred the and Peanuty om gimen day of March Chapper the year of our Lord one thousand eight of Narren in said County of Litchfield, being an alien and a free white person, appeared in open Court, (the said Court being a Court of Record, having Common Law Jurisdietion, and a glerk and Seal,) and applied to be admitted to become a citizen of the United States. And the said "hapelplies then exhibited to the Court a Certificate of the declaration of intention made by him before said Superior Court and required as the first condition according to the first section of the Act of Congress entitled "An Actito establish an uniform rule of Naturalization, and to repeal the acts heretofore passed on that subject." Approved 14th of April, 1802, as follows STATE OF CONNECTICUT, COUNTY OF fitehfield } ss. vo the it Remembered, That on the 23th day of March A. D. before the having Superior Common Law jurisdiction, with a Clerk and a Seal, per- Court, within and for said County, sonally appeared, L.S. Simon bhappius of Narren in said County, who was born in Franer aged about 43 years, and on oath did declare that it was bona fide his intention to become a CITIZEN OF THE UNITED STATES, and to renounce forever all allegiance and fidelity to every foreign Prince, Poten- tate, State and Sovereignty, whatever-and particularly to stapolion Emperon of Thaner of the United Kingdom of Groat Britain and Ireland, of whom he is now a subject. In Testimony Where- of, I, Kansom Clerk of said Court, have hereunto set my hand, and Seal of the said Court, the day and year aforesaid. sill 1n the nm g Raneom Clerk. And it appearing Court, to the satisfaction of the that said behappies has resided within the United States five years at least, and in the State of Connecticut one year at least, and that during said five years he has behaved as a man of good moral character, attached to the principles of the Constitution of the United States, and well disposed to the good order and happiness of the same. And the said behappius having declared on oath, that he would support the CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES, and that he did absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign Prince, Potentate, State or Sovereignty whatever, and particularly to the Soverighty of Franci of the United Kingdom of Great Britdin and Irelang, of whom, he was before a subject. It was therefore considered by the Court, that dimon Chapepius be, and he was accordingly admitted to become a Citizen of the UNITED STATES.
