And the said Charles before Haley then exhibited to the Court a Certificate of the declaration of intention made by him Comity blerk of the and required as the first condition according to the first section of the Act of Congress entitled "An Act to establish an uniform rule of Naturalization, and to repeal the acts heretofore passed on that subject." Approved 14th of April, 1802, as follows: STATE OF CONNECTICUT, COUNTY OF ss. 16th the of it March Reyembered, That on the day A. D. 1987, before the blerk Court, within and for said County, having (Common Law jurisdiction, with a Clerk and a Seal, per- sonally L.S. of Mirchester in dreland in appeared, Charles Haley said County, who was born aged about 27 years, and on oath did declare that it was bona fide his intention to become a CITIZEN OF THE UNITED STATES, and to renounce forever all allegiance and fidelity to every foreign Prince, Poten- tate, State and Sovereignty, whatever-and particularly to Victoria Inven of the Undied Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, of whom he is now a subject. In Testimony Where- of, I, Mm L.Ranson Clerk of said Court, have hereunto set my hand, and Seal of the said Court, the and tasit has Joned More day S Ransom to Clerk. And to it appearing the satisfaction of the Court, that said Charles Haley has sill resided within the United States five years at least, and in the State of Connecticut one year at least, and that during said five years he has behaved as a man of good moral character, attached to the principles of the Constitution of the United States, and well disposed to the good order and happiness of the same. Hew has And the said Charles Haley having oath, would support declared on that he the CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES, and that he did absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to anw foreign Prince, Potentate, State or Sovereignty whatever, and particularly to Victotia green of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, of whom he was before a subject. It was therefore considered by the Court, that Charles Haley be, and he was accordingly admitted of to become a Citizen of the UNITED STATES.
