seventy four Edward Steven
of trinchester
in said County of Litchfield, being an alien and a free white person,
appeared in open Court, (the said Court being a Court of Record, having Common Law Jurisdiction, and
a Clerk and Seald and applied to be admitted to become a eitizen of the United States. And the said
Eilmand Steven
then exhibited to the Court a Certificate of the declaration of intention
made by him before the bind of this Count
and required as the first condition according to the first section of the Act of Congress entitled "An Actte
establish an uniform rule of Naturalization, and to repeal the acts heretofore passed on that subject."
Approved 14th of April, 1802, as follows:

it was bona fide his intention to become a CITIZEN OF THE
UNITED STATES, and to renounce forever all allegiance and fidelity to every foreign Prinee, Poten-
tate, State and Sovereiguty, whatever-and particularly to
Chance IV King of Sweelen
ofthe Upited Kings ofy Treat Britain Irelandeof whom he is now a subject. In Testimony Where-
of, I, WILLANDOM
Clerk of said Court, have hereunto set my
hand, and Seal of the said Court, the day and year aforesaid.

And it appearing to the satisfaction of the Court, that said Edward Steven uhas resided
within the United States five years at least,

and in the State of Connecticut one year at least, and that during said five years
he has behaved as a man of good moral character, attached to the principles of the Constitution of the
United States, and well disposed to the good order and happiness of the same.
And the said Edimard flerew
having declared on oath, that he would support
the CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES, and that he did absolutely and entirely renounce
and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign Prince, Potentate, State or Sovereignty whatever, and
particularly Great to Ireland, of whom he before It therefore ofthe considered United
Kingdom of
Britain and "was was by the Court,
