At Superior
Fourth Tuesday of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty Eight on
Court, holden at Litchfield, in and for the County of Litchfield, in the State of Connecticut, the
PRESENT-Hon James Perpe Judge-
Be it Remembered, That

of of our bornwall Lord one thousand eight hundred on the and sixty light Daniel day of January Downs
in the year
said Court in said Connty of Litchfield, being an alien and free white person, appeared in
open Court, (the being a Court of Record, having Common Law Jurisdiction, and a Clerk and Seal,) and applied
to be admitted to become a citizen of the United States.
And at the time of his said application, and of his admission as a citizen of the United States, as hereinafter specified,
the said
Daniel Downs
declared on oath, in open Court, that it was bona fide his intention to become a citizen
of the United States, and to renounce forever all allegiance and fidelity to every foreign Prince, Potentate, State and
Sovereignty whatsoever, and particularly to
Victoria Dear
of the United Kingdom of Great Britian and Ireland, of whom he has
been hitherto a subject.
And further declared on oath and proved to the satisfaction of the Court, that for the three years next preceding, it has been
bona fide his intention to become a citizen of the United States.
And it being found by the said Court that the said Danil Downs,
is a free white male person, of lawful age, that he was born in Ireland
and is aged twenty six years

And it appearing to the satisfaction of the Court, that said
has resided within
the United States five years at least, including three years next preceding his arrival at the age of twenty-one years, and in
the State of Connecticut one year at least, and that during said five years he has behaved as a man of good moral character,
attached to the principles of the Constitution of the United States, and well disposed to the good order and happiness of the
same.
And the said
Danil Downs
having declared on oath, that he would support the
CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES, and that he did absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance
and fidelity to any foreign Prince, Potentate, State or Sovereignty whatever, and particularly
to
Nectoria Dueen
of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, of whom he was before a
subject. It was therefore considered by the Court, that said
Danul Downs
be, and he was accordingly admitted to become a Citizen of the UNITED STATES.
