COURT, now sitting in Hartford, in and
for Hartford County, charch Term, A. D. 1840
The
Petition of John borkins of Enfirld in the County of Hentford
respectfully sheweth, that he is a Foreigner, having been born in the County of
in Inland in the Year A. D. 1795
, that he is a subject of William the Kitana
June Fourthyling of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. That he emigrated to the United
States in A. D. 1819 , that before the Country
Court, held at Hartford, within and fortte
County of Hartford, on the 28th Tueeday
of
A.D.18 , to wit on the th day
of Sept.
183/ (said Court being a Court of Record, having Common Law, jurisdiction and
a
Clerk and Seal) he declared on oath his intention to become a citizen of the United States, and to re-
nounce forever all allegiance and fidelity to any Foreign Prince, Potentate, State, or Sovereignty whatev-
er, and particularly to said William the King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and
Ireland, as by certificate, duly authenticated, ready in Court to be shewn appears-that he has resided
during the last five years constantly, in the United States, and for the last year in the State of Connecti-
cut. That he has behaved during said five years as a man of good moral character, attached to the princi-
y ples of the Constitution of the United States, and well disposed to the good order and happiness of the
same. Whereupon he prays your Honors, to take his case into consideration, and on finding the facts
true, to admit him to be a citizen of the United States, according to the Acts of Congress in such case
2
provided, as he in duty bound shall pray.
