To the Hon. Superior Court, now sitting in Hartford, in and for Hartford County, January Term, .A. D. 18 $44 THE PETITION OF James Serry of Enfula in the County of Harlford respectfully showeth, that he is a Foreigner, having been born in A. Hellinited Kingdom flual Britain L belone D. 18 That he is a subject of Visteria Luan of is Kingdom That he emigrated to the United States A. D. 18 39 That before the County Court, held at Hartford, within and for the County of Hartford, on the 3 day of april A. D. 1839 (said Court being a Court of record, having Common Law jurisdiction, and a Clerk and-Seal,) he declared, on bath, his intention to become a citizen of the United States, and to renounce forever all allegiance and fidelity to any Foreign Prince, Potentate, State, or Sovereignty whatever, and particularly to Victoria Queen of the Unitea Kengdem of Great Britain and Ireland as by certificate, duly authenticated, ready in Court to be shown appears. That he has resided in the United States three years next preceding his arriving at the age of twenty-one years, which occurred on the day of A. D. 18 and has continued to reside therein to the present time ; and that for three years next preceding it has been his bona fide intention to become a citizen of the United States. That he has resided during the last five years constantly in the United States, (including the three years of his minority,) and during the last year in the State of Connecticut. That he has behaved during said five years as a man of good moral character, attached to the principles of the Constitution of the United States, and well disposed to the good order and happiness of the same. Whereupon he prays your Honor to take his case into consideration, and on finding the allegations true, to admit him to be a citizen of the United States, according to the Acts of Con- gress in such case provided, as he in duty bound shall pray.
