John Shortell
County of Hartford,
Be it Remembered, That
of Hantford in said County of Hartford, but late of the United Kingdom of
Great Britain and Ireland, appeared before the Clerk of the County Court for said County
of Hartford, at Hartford in said County, on the Fifteenth day of October
in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty one ,
the said Court
being a Court of Record, having common Law jurisdiction, and a Clerk, and Seal, and
declared on oath before said Clerk, that it was bona fide his intention to become a citizen of
the United States, and to renounce forever all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign Prince,
Potentate, or and to
State, Sovereignty whatever, particularly Victoria queen
of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland.
In testimony whereof, I have hereunto set my hand
and affixed the Seal of said County Court
this Fifteenth day of October
in the year of our Lord one thousand eight
hundred and fifty onon
