S.6.1842 8. in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty two BE IT That on the fust day of April in t The Barelay of Eufould in said County of of Hartford, appeared in open Court, (the said Court being a Court of Record, having common Law juris- diction, and a Clerk and seal,) and applied to be admitted and to become a citizen of the United States. And the the said John Barclay then exhibited to the Court a certificate of the De Declaration of intention made by him before the County bourt for saill County are the 20th day of Aug ast A.D.1839 as on file and and required as the first condition according to the first section of the Act of Congress entitled " An Act to esta establish an uniform rule of Naturalization, and to repeal the Acts heretofore passed on that subject." Ap- prov proved 14th of April, 1802, as follows; "ST "STATE OF CONNECTICUT, COUNTY OF HARTFORD, SS. B Be IT REMEMBERED, That in said County of Hartford, but late of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and and Ireland, appeared before the Court for said County of Hartford, held at Hartford in said said County, on the day of in the year of our Lord one one thousand eight hundred and (the said Court being a Court of Record, havi having Common Law Jurisdiction, and a Clerk and seal,) and declared on oath in open Court, that it was bona bona fide his intention to become a citizen of the United States, and to renounce forever all allegiance and fideli fidelity to any foreign Prince, Potentate, State or Sovereignty whatever, and particularly to King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. In In testimony whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the seal of said Court, this this day of in the year of our Lord Lord one thousand eight hundred and Clerk." and and it appearing to the satisfaction of the Court, that said John Barelay has r has resided within the United States five years at least, and in the State of Connecticut one year it least, and that that during said five years he has behaved as a man of good moral character, attached to the principles of the Cons Constitution of the United States, and well disposed to the good order and happiness of the same. And the said John Barclay And having declared on oath, that he would support the ( the Constitution of the United States, and that he did absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegi- ance ance and fidelity to any foreign Prince, Potentate, State, or Sovereignty whatever, and particularly to yis Virtona I um King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, of w of whom he was before a subject. It was therefore considered by the Court, that John Barilay be, and he was accordingly admitted to become a citizen of the Unit United States.
