562 284 BE IT REMEMBERED; That on the day of October in in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and Peler Meanu of in said County of Hartford, appeared in open Court, (the said Court being a Court of Record, having common Law juris- diction, and a Clerk and seal,) and applied to be admitted and to become a citizen of the United States. And the said mann then exhibited to the Court a certificate of the D Declaration of intention made by him before thicarly Commonpleas for Bradiend emails Pennsylvanial the Koday an and required as the first condition according to the first section of the Act of Congress entitled " An Act to establish an uniform rule of Naturalization, and to repeal the Acts heretofore passed on that subject." Ap- proved 14th of April, 1802, as follows: "STATE OF CONNECTICUT, } ss. County QF HARTFORD, Be IT REMEMBERED, That in said County of Hartford, but late of the United Kingdom of Great Britain an and Ireland, appeared before the Court for said County of Hartford, held at Hartford in sa said County, on the day of in the year of our Lord or one thousand eight hundred and (the said Court being à Court of Record, ha having Common Law Jurisdiction, and a Clerk and seal,) and declared on oath in open Court, that it was bo bona fide his intention to become a citizen of the United/States, and to renounce forever all allegiance and fio fidelity to any foreign Prince, Potentate, State or Sovereignty whatever, and particularly to King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. In testimony whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the seal of said day of chanding Court, th this in the year of our L Lord one thousand eight hundred and Clerk.' and it appearing to the satisfaction of the Court, a that said Meanu has resided within the United States five years at least, and in the State of Connecticut one year it least, and h that during said five years he has behaved as a man of good moral character, attached to the principles of the t Constitution of the United States, and well disposed to the good order and happiness of the same. C And the said Moann A having declared on oath, that he would support the Constitution of the United States, and that he did absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegi- t ance and fidelity to any foreign Prince, Potentate, State, or Sovereignty whatever, and particularly to a the King. of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, of whom he was before a subject. It was therefore considered by the Court, that o Peter. Meanus be, and he was accordingly admitted to become a citizen of the United States.
