in said County
of Hartford, appeared in open Court, (the said Court being a Court of Record, having common Law juris-
diction, and a Clerk and seal,) and applied to be admitted and to become a citizen of the United States. And
the said William H. Messenger
thon oxhibited to the Court a cortificate ofthe
Declaration of intention mado by him boforo at the time of his said application, and of
his admission as a citisen of the limited States as herinafter specified
and required as the first condition according to the first section of the Act of Congross entitled " An Act to
ostablish an uniform rule of Naturalization, and to repeal the Acts heretofore passed on that subjoct."

Victoria Queen
King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland.
In tostimony whoreof, I have horcunte set my hand and affixod the soal of said to whom -Court,
this he has hitherto been day of asubject and further in the year of our
Lord one thousand eight hundrod and declared on oath, and proved to the
satisfaction of said Count that he has reselved in Clerk."

of whom he was before a subject. It was therefore considered by the Court, that the said
United States.
William H. Messenger be, and he was accordingly admitted to become a citizen of the
