    "ocrText": "219\nare Arlson\nanited States of America, State of Connectiont, 55.\nAta City Court, holden in and for the City of Waterbury, on the First\nMonday of Deplumber\nA. D. 188 0\nBE IT REMEMBERED, That on the\n/\nday of November\nin said year,\ncharles aiken\nof Thomastern\nin the County of Letchfield\nappeared before said Court, the same being a Court of\nRecord, with common Law Jurisdiction, a Clerk and a Seal, and made application to the said Court,\nto become a citizen of the United States: And upon examination first had, it being made to ap-\npear, and this Court having found to their satisfaction, that the said applicant is a free, white male\nperson of lawful age, an alien and a subject of Victoria, Queen of the United Kingdom of Great\nBritain and Ireland, William I. Emperor of Germary\nthat\nhe\nis\nnow of the age of 36 years ; that he was born in Scotland\nin\nsaid Kingdom; that he has resided in the United States constantly for more than five years last\npast, and in State of Connecticut and within the Jurisdiction of this Court for more than one\nyear last past, and that he has during all said time behaved himself as a good citizen, has a good\nmoral character, and is attached to the principles of the Constitution of the United States, and\nwell disposed to the good order and happiness of the same. It also appearing to this Court, that\nsaid applicant did, pursuant to the laws of the United States. appear before the City\nCourt within and for Calico Walibury\non the\nday of dovamber A. D. 1878, the same being a Court of Record with\ncommon Law Jurisdiction, a Clerk and a Seal, and on oath did declare that it was BONA FIDE his\nintention to become a citizen of the United States, and to renounce all allegiance and fidelity for-\never to every Foreign Prince, Potentate, State and Sovereignty whatever, and particularly of to\nVictoria, Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland,\nGermany\nby the Record of said court appears. And the said applicant now here in this Court, declares\nas on oath, that he doth absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity Victoria, to\nevery Foreign Prince, Potentate, State and Sovereignty whatever, and particularly to\nQueen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, William I. Emperor of Germany\nof whom he is now a subject, and he also declares on oath, that he will support the Constitution of\nthe United States of America.\nWherefore. the said applicant is hereby, by this Court, admitted and declared to be a citizen\nof the United States of America.\nClerk."
