    "ocrText": "Do the Son Superior Court, Brooklyn, and for County of Windham,\nholden at in the\nJohn Bickford now resident Herlen\nat\nin\ngmallory said County, respectfully represents England that he born in Purlyshile the in United the tourn Kingdom of Great\nwas\nin Britain and\nIreland,\non or about the 31\nday of men\nA. D., 1834\nand is now about 38\nyears of age; and that he arrived at Philddelphia\nA. 1856 on or about the 1629 day of April\nD., that it was then and still is bona fide his intention to become a citizen of the United States of America, and to\nrenounce all allegiance and fidelity to every foreign Prince, Potentate, State and Sovereignty, whatever, and particularly to Vic-\ntoria, Queen of the United King lom of Great Britain and Ireland,\nwhose subject he has heretofore been ; all of which appears on the record of\nthe honorable beneyit\nCounty of leak the\nCourt, holden at Chicago\nin and for the\non 9\nTueaday day of April\nA. D. 0857 certified copy of which record is herewith exhibited.\na\nAnd\nthe said John Brakford\nfurther represents, that he has ever since\ncontinued within the jurisdiction of the United States ; that he hath never borne any hereditary title, or been of any of the\norders of nobility ; that he is ready to announce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to every foreign Prince, Potentate, State or\nSovereignty whatever, and particularly to Vietoria, Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland,\nwhose subject¹ he has heretofore been ; that he is attached to the principles of the Constitution of the United States of America,\nand well disposed to the good order and happiness of the same.\nWhereupon he prays that he may be admitted to become a citizen of the United States of America, according to the forms\nof the Statute in such cases made and provided. And as in duty bound will ever pray.\nDated at Brooklyn this 11. day of October D.,\nA.\n1872\ngohn Bickfold\nI do solemnly swear that I will support the CONSTITUTION of the UNITED STATES, and that I hereby renounce\nand abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign Prince, Potentate, State, or Sovereignty whatever, particularly to Vietoria,\nQueen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland.\nSo help me God."
