D. 1848.\nBE JT REMEMBERED, That on the 14th\nday\nof October\nin said year\nThomas Claffy of Waterbury in said County\nappeared before said Court, the same being a Court of Record, with Common Law Jurisdiction, a Clerk and a Seal, and made\napplication to said Court to become a Citizen of the United States; And upon examination first had, it being made to appear,\nand this Court having found to their satisfaction that the said Thomas Claffy\nis a free white male\nperson of lawful age, an alien and a subject of Victoria, Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland,\n30\nthat he was born in drelane\nthat he is now of the age of\nyears,\nin said\nKingdom, that he has resided in the United States constantly for more than five years last past, and in said State of Connecti-\ncut for more than one year last past, and that he has during all said time behaved himself as a good citizen, has a good moral\ncharacter, and is attached to the principles of the Constitution of the Uuited States, and well disposed to the good order and\nhappiness of the It also appearing this Court that said Thomas Clafty\nsame. to\ndid. pursuant\nto the laws of the United States, appear before the John as Rice Clerk of the County\nCourt within and for New H aven County\non\nthe\n13th\nday of april\nA. D. 1846 the same being a Court of Record with Common Law Jurisdiction, a Clerk and a Seal, and on Oath did declare\nthat it was bona fide his intention to become a citizen of the United States, and to renounce all allegiance and fidelity forever\nto every foreign Prince, Potentate, State and Sovereignty whatever, and particularly to Vietoria, Queen of the United Kingdom\nof Great Britain and Ireland,\nas by the Records of said Court appear. And the said Thomas Claffy\nnow here\nin this Court declares on Oath, that he doth absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to every for-\neign Prince, Potentate, State and Sovereignty whatever, and particularly to Victoria, Queen of the United Kingdom of Great\nBritain and Ireland,\nof whom he is now a subject, and he also declares on Oath, that he will support the Constitution of the United States of Amer-\nica.\nWherefore\nthe said Thomas Claffy\nis hereby, by this Court, admitted and declared\nto be a Citizen of the United States of America.\nSTATE OF CONNECTIOUT,\nss.\nCOUNTY OF NEW HAVEN:\nBE IT REMEMBERED, That on the sourth\nday of\nmay A. D. 184\nbefore the subsesiber Clusty Court, within and for said County, having Common Law Jurisdietion, with a Clerk and\nSeal, personally appeared, Catharine Barning\nof new Kaven\nin said County, who was born in Ireland\naged about\n32\nyears, and on Oath did declare that it was bona fide his intention to become a\nOITIZEN OF THE U NITED STATES and to renounce forever all allegiance and fidelity to every foreign\nPrince, Potentate, State and Sovereignty whatever-and particularly to Vietoria, Queen of the United Kingdom of Great\nBritain and Ireland,\nof whomshe is now a subject.\nIn Testimony Whereof, I, RHCOSOM\nClerk of said Court, have hereunto set my\nhand and the Seal of said Court, the day and year aforesaid.\nOsborn Clern."
