It also appearing to this Court, that said applicant did, pursuant to the laws of the United States, appear before the United tels District Court within and for the District of Rhade 9 8 am on the day of A. D. 1872, the same being a Court of Record, with common Law Juris- diction, a Clerk and a Seal, and on oath did declare that it was bona fide his intention to become a citizen of the United States, and to renounce all allegiance and fidelity forever to every Foreign Prince, Potentate, State and Sover- eignty whatever, and particularly to Victoria, Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, as by the Record of said Court appears.
