FILMS OF IKE FOR PRESIDENT RALLY FLOWN TO PARIS
Nancy Osgood at 1:15 P.M. over WRC (Washington)
"In Paris, aviatrix Jacqueline Cochran said today that Gen-
eral Dwight D. Eisenhower was tremendously and deeply touched by
films of last Friday night's The For President rally in New York.
Miss Cochran flew to Paris with films taken at the rally attended
by a crowd of 15 thousand persons in Madison Square Garden, wit-
nessed by countless televiewers and broadcast by radio. She was
present when the films were seen by Eisenhower in the projection
room at Supreme Headquarters of the Allied Powers in Europe Asked
if she thought the General's chances for becoming president were
good, Miss Cochran said if only General Eisenhower would come
back and do something about his chances it will be the first time
that I will be optimistic about my country in 15 years. I hope
and pray he will, and I think I'm speaking for millions of other
Americans.
"Some Eisenhower for President leaders fear that the gener-
al will miss out on the nomination unless he returns soon and ac-
tively campaigns for the nomination. He has said that he will an-
swer a call to run, but has refused to campaign openly for the de-
signation. Miss Cochran admitted that itis impossible now to tell
if General The will return, but, she added, he impressed me with
his leadership, humility and willingness to serve not only the Am-
erican people but also the people of the world. I was astounded
at the simplicity of his office."
