    "ocrText": "- 4 -\nRECREATION.\nYou can be of help to the committee by passing\nthe Su ,Iy of what we are trying to do along to those who\nread publications for which you write. We can't expect\npeople to participate in this movement unless they know\nwhat all about\n6. Even though we ve not had funds with which to assist\norganizations and groups planning international sports ex-\nchanges, we have been of help in other ways and are being\nrecognized for it. One such method is to extend to organiza-\ntions raising funds for people-to-people activity the advantages\ninherent in the fact that donations to our committee are tax\nexempt. They encourage donors to make their checks out to\nour committee, and we hold them in a special account until\nthey are needed. The Amateur Fencers League of America, e.g.\nis using our committee in this way while raising funds with\nwhich to conduct an international fencing tournament in\nPhiladelphia later this year. You may know of other organ-\nizations which might benefit from a similar arrangement. If\nso, do not hesitate to pass the idea along to them.\n7. Last December we staged a fund raising luncheon here\nin New York, and managed to secure pledges totalling $6,500.\nThis has helped to keep us going but considerable more must\nbe raised if we are to do the job which needs doing. Con-\nsequently, a $50/plate dinner is being planned for May 26th\nhere at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York, and a similar one\nwill be held in Chicago at a later date.
