TELEPHONE CONVERSATION WITH ATTORNEY GENERAL BROWNELL
The Secretary telephoned him to add a word to
their previous conversation on the Rosenberg case. He
mentioned that Jean Monnet had volunteered the information
that Spaak felt this was the most troublesome issue
affecting relations between the United States and Europe.
Spaak is a Socialist but a very able fellow and it adds
some weight to the French comments. The Secretary said
he did not think it should necessarily change our opinion
but thought the Attorney General would like to know.
