Strong patrols to the front, Observers in trees. Battalions in column. Leap Frog movement. Filling in gap. Counter attack. Casualties, 68 officers, 1545 men. Captures, 1139 prisoners, 42 guns, 125M.Gs. Relievedby 78th Division. Moved back to Domevre area, then to area south of Pagny sur Meuse for a short period of training. Pepping up. Attack problems. Movement at night by truck into Argonne Offensive. Reserve position, Foret de Hesse, Liaison instruction with 88th and 90th areo squadrons. Move to woods just east of MONTFAUCON on night of Oct. 12th. Jump off position night of Oct.13th.on ridges just south. of Romagne-CUnel road. Hill 264 and "ois de la Poultiere, casualties terriffic. Two of three Bn. commanders 7 company commanders and 1°lieutenants 593 men casualties in one regiment. Bois de Rappe taken and lost by the other brigade on 13th. Finally captured by the 11th Infantry. Infiltration. Romagne Cemetery. Relieved by 90th Division Oct.22. Out three days and in again with 600 replacements in regiment. Bois de BRIeulles, Bois de Foret. Capture of Brieulles. Crossing the Meuse, evening of Nov. 4th followed by the remainder of brigade ,same night. Crossing made at Brieulles.
