This file unit consists of photographs taken by Nina L. Dick during her service with the Army Nurse Corps during World War Two. The earliest images depict the living and working conditions that she encountered in camps and military hospitals in the United States and England. She also took pictures of the nurses engaged in sightseeing and other recreational activities.
Her unit moved to France in the first week of the Normandy Invasion. Dick took photographs of hospital ships and other vessels in the English Channel. As her unit moved through France, Luxembourg, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and Czechoslovakia, she continued to capture events and places in photographs. There are photographs of surgeons at work in field hospitals, doctors and nurses tending to patients, towns and villages in ruins, and prisoners of war.
