SAUCES Barbecue Sauce #1 Barbecue Sauce #2 1 cup sugar 1/4 C. chopped onion 1/4 C. vinegar 1/2 pint bottle soy bean sauce 1/4 C. chopped celery 1 green pepper, 1/2 cup vinegar 2 tbsp. shortening chopped 1/2 cup catsup 1/2 tsp. paprika 12 oz. chili sauce Dash of tabasco salt 1 tbsp. Worcester- Juice 1/2 lemon shire sauce Mix together and baste meat or fowl after 1/4 C. brown sugar few dashes Tabasco it is 2/3 cooked. Can be used for meats 1/4 C. water and fowl. Makes a wonderful sweet and 1 Tbsp. mustard sour barbecue. Saute onions and celery in fat. Add rest of ingredients in order indicated. Simmer 30 minutes. Barbecue Sauce #3 1 pt. vinegar 1 small bottle catsup 1/2 bottle prepared horseradish 1 tbsp. cayenne 1 tbsp. dry mustard 1 tbsp. sugar 1 tbsp. salt 1/2 tsp. black pepper Combine ingredients and use to baste while grilling. Especially good with ribs. med T 081 Barbecue Sauce (from Sgt. Moaney, 9/24/56) 1/4 cup butter 2 tsp. salt 1 No. 2 can tomatoes, sieved (2 cups) 2 tsp. chili powder 1/4 cup vinegar 1-1/2 tsp. Worcestershire Sauce 1 tbsp. sugar 1/4 tsp. Tabasco Sauce, or more 3 tsp. paprika according to taste 1 small onion, finely chopped 1 tsp. black pepper Mix ingredients and simmer about 15 minutes. Use for basting meat or chicken, and serve as a sauce for it as well. Makes enough for about 5 pounds of meat (or chicken).
