Dear Mr. President:
As you directed in your letter of April 26, I will personally
raise the first official 50-star flag over Fort McHenry on
July 4.
Enclosed is the official invitation to attend the ceremonies,
which begin at 10:45 p. m., July 3. The 50-star flag will be
raised at one minute after midnight. We would, of course,
be greatly honored if you should find it possible to attend.
