Considerable research would be required\non the part of the Air Technical Intelligence Center to either\nconfirm or refute Mr. Ogden's claims.\nHenry in\nSenator Jackson's office indicated they did not intend to\nreply to Mr. Ogden. His letter was never acknowledged so\nhe believes it went astray. Eisenhower\nThe White House\nWashington, D. C.\nDear Mr. President:\nI am an aerial phenomena investigator, and I would appreci-\nate very much your cooperation in my investigation.\nFor almost three years I have been particularly interested\nin a case concerning a Professor George Adamski of Mount Palomar,\nCalifornia. Adamski, author of two best sellers, claims that he\nhas been taken for a ride in an interplanetary space ship; and\nhe has taken photographs to substantiate his claims. I asked\nthe famous Mars expert, Dr. Robert S. Richardson, for his opinion\nof Adamski's experiences. He told me that he felt that Adamski\nwas suffering from a delusion; however, he pointed out that Adamski\nbelieves in everything he says and that he was not deliberately\ntrying to fool people. I later pointed out to him that since he\nfelt Adamski was not deliberately trying to deceive people, this\nseems to mean that it is his opinion that Adamski is a honest\nman. Then if he is honest, that means he did not fake the photo-\ngraphs which he presents as evidence to substantiate his claims.\nHence, the question of how a man can take photographs of a de-\nlusion has not been explained. Dr. Richardson could not answer\nthe question, for he told me that he could not answer all of\nAdamski's claims.\nIf this information strikes you as being interesting, then\ntake a look at the following excerpts from Adamski's book, \"Inside\nThe Space Ships,\" and you will understand why I consider the case\nimportant enough to call to your attention:\nI (Adamski) said, \"About\nthese people from other planets who are living amongst us\n... has that been going on for long?\" It was Kalna (a\nVenusian woman) who answered, \"Since time immemorial! or\nat least, she corrected herself, \"for the past two thousand\nyears. After the crucifixion of Jesus, who was sent (from\nVenus) to be incarnated on your world to help your people,\nas had others before him, we decided to carry on our mission\nin a way less perilous to those soncerned than actual birth\non your planet. This was made possible by the great ad-\nvance in our space traveling ships. We were able to bring\nvolunteers in their physical bodies. These men are care-\nfully trained for their mission and receive instructions in\nregard to their personal safety. Their identity is never\nrevealed except, rarely, to one or another individual for a\ndefinite purpose, as with you. They mingle with their\nEarthly brothers to learn their languages and their ways.\nThen they return to their home planets where they pass on\nto us what knowledge they have gathered of your world. We\nhave a history of Earth and the happenings thereon dating\nback seventy-eight million years. Similar histories which\nwere made by men on Earth have been lost with the civili-\n- 2 -\nzations that destroyed themselves--the same pattern\nof destruction that threatens you today. The thing\nyou call 'war' has not existed anywhere else in our\nsystem for millions of years. of course, all planets\nand their people must pass through the orderly stages\nof evolvement from lower to higher. But yours has\nnot been an orderly or natural progress; rather, an\nendless repetition of growth and destruction, growth\nand destruction\nIf\n(Pages 104-106)\nOne of the Martian ladies said, \"You Earth people do\nnot desire to show such cruelty towards one another.\nThis, as you have been told before, is merely the\nresult of your self-ignorance, which in turn blinds\nyou to the laws of the Universe of which we are all\n& part. Within your families, you speak much of the\nlove you feel for one another. Yet this very love\nyou profess to hold often expresses itself as a\npossessive power of bondage over another. Nothing\ncould be more contrary to love in its free state.\nGenuine love must embrace respect, mutual confidence\nand understanding. As known and expressed on other\nworlds, love contains nothing of the false possessive-\nness which perverts it upon the Earth. We understand\nlove as a radiation from the heart of Deity through\nall creation, and especially through man towards all\nother forms, without division of any kind. In reality,\nit is not possible to find virtue in one form, and\nnone in another. Yet, notice the distortion existing\non Earth, solely because man there understands neither\nhimself nor his Divine Father. Because of this ignor-\nance, men go forth in what you call 'war' to slaughter\nruthlessly those of another nation, another color,\nanother religion, without understanding what they do.\nIt is difficult for us of other worlds to grasp why\nmen of Earth cannot see that not only is the mutual\ndestruction of themselves by themselves no answer to\nany problem, but a cause for further woe on Earth.\nSo it has always been and so it will always be. Now\nthat your scientific knowledge has 30 far outstripped\nyour social and human progress, the gap between must\nbe filled with urgent haste. Men of your Earth know\nthe terrible power sealed within the bombs they are\npiling up for use against one another. Yet they\nblunder on ever nearer to the brink of an unthinkable\nworld-wide slaughter. This, to us, is strangely\nillogical.\"\n(Pages 136-138)\n\"Yes,\" one of the men agreed, \"your behavior does\noften seem illogical to us. Let me give you an example.\nYou have physical fathers on Earth, do you not?\"\n\"Yes,\" I (Adamski) replied. \"If you had two sons, born\nof your own flesh and blood, as you say, and if for\none reason or another one of your sons knelt before you\nand asked your blessing on his determination to slay his\nbrother, who is also your son, would you grant his re-\n- 3 -\nquest because he professed himself right and his\nbrother wrong?\" My (Adamski) reply was naturally,\n\"Of course not!\" \"Yet, If he pointed out, \"that is\nexactly what you Earthlings have been doing through-\nout the centuries. You all acknowledge a Supreme\nBeing according to your understanding, and you speak\nof the brotherhood of mankind. Yet you ask the\nEternal Father of all things to do that which you\nyourself would not do. For when you people are\nwarring against one another, you fall to your knees\nin unholy prayer. You ask your Divine Father to\nbless your efforts to gain a victory over your own\nlife-brother, even to the extent of destroying him.\nWe, as your brothers living on other worlds than your\nown, view impartially the divided groups of people\nupon your planet. We, who have learned more regarding\nour Father's laws, operative throughout the Universe,\ncannot make the distinctions that keep you in such\nconstant turmoil and we are saddened to see what is\ntaking place on your Earth. We, as brothers of all\nmankind, are willing to help all those whom we can\nreach and who desire our help. But at no time may\nwe force our way of life upon the people of your\nworld. In reality, there are no inherently bad people\non Earth, nor anywhere in the Universe. If, as many\nof you express it, your lives seem to consist of a\n'hell on Earth, you yourselves are to blame. Your\nplanet, even as all others, was created by our One\nDivine Creator and is in itself a holy place, as are\nall His creations. Were all mankind suddenly to be\nswept from the face of Earth, and with them the strife\nand woe and grief they have brought upon it by not\nlearning how to live together, Earth would be beauti-\nful. But never so beautiful as a world on which men\nlive as brothers with all in the Universe. Because\none man is a stranger to another does not give him the\nright to ignore, insult, or to kill a fellow being.\nYou have set aside a day each year for the observance\nof the Brotherhood of Man, and you speak of the Father-\nhood of the Creator. Yet, in complete oblivion of the\nactions which such declarations should bring forth,\nyou lavish money and effort toward swifter and more\nwidespread ways of maiming and destroying your fellow\nmen on Earth. Does it not seem curious to pray to the\nDivine Father to bless your efforts in this ruthless\ndestruction? We hear these prayers coming from your\ntemples, from your government leaders, from your homes\nand from the battlefields. Can you not see how far\nastray you have gone? For you are actually asking\nyour Divine Father to do that which you yourself would\nnot do for your own children. Can you not see how\nhypocritical you have become? And this is but one\nillustration of the many things which you do against\nyour Divine Father. So long as you live this way,\ndivided one against the other, your sorrows will be\n- 4 -\nmultiplied. For when you seek your brother's life,\nsomeone seeks yours. This is the meaning of the\nwords once spoken by Jesus of Nazareth. Remember\nthat he said: 'Put up again thy sword into its place:\nfor all they who take the sword shall perish with\nthe sword. The truth of these words has been proven\nthroughout the history of man on Earth.\" (Pages 137-140)\nOrthon (a Venusian male) replied,\n...\n\"Our ships\nperform feats in your skies which no Earthly planes\nof any nation can do. Your scientists know this.\nYour governments know this. The pilots of your planes\neverywhere in your world have seen us and marveled.\nThousands of your people have looked up and been amazed.\nThousands more everywhere are now watching and hoping\nfor a glimpse of us. All this has been foretold by\nmen of old. They have said in your written prophecies\nthat the whole world will be disturbed, and that the\nsigns will be these: Sons of God will be coming from\nHeaven to Earth to deliver the peoples. The conditions\nin your world today have placed you, as you put it,\nunder the shadow of death. Your entire world is dis-\nturbed. And since the name you have for outer space is\n'Heaven,' and since we too are sons and daughters of\nGod, could it not be that even now the ancient prophecy\nis being fulfilled? It has also been foretold that,\nwhen time cometh, the dark races of the world will rise\nup and demand the right to equal respect and the lot\nof free men so long denied them by you of lighter skins.\nIs not this prophecy, too, being fulfilled in these very\ndays on Earth? You see, we know the history of your\nworld well. The conception of 'We are our brother's\nkeeper' applies to all mankind everywhere. It is in\nthis role that we come to you and say, 'Let the Supreme\nBeing of the Universe be the guiding word for your world\nthat your troubles may vanish as darkness before light.'\nWhat would man be without the breath of life? And who\ngiveth unto him? Is it not to be found everywhere for\nthe benefit of all? Then let Earthly man know that his\nGod is not in some far distant place, but ever near in\nall manifestations, and within Man himself.\" (Pages\n240-242)\nI have quoted this much material in hope of impressing you\nwith the fact that the Adamski story is not a story to be casted\naside without time being taken to give serious consideration to\nthe validity of his story. However, I should like you to know\nthat I am not a confirmed believer in the interplanetary answer\nto the so-called \"flying saucer mystery\" nor am I a confirmed\nnon-believer. I believe in examining evidence both in favor and\nagainst Professor Adamski before drawing any conclusion, 80 far\nthere has been insufficient evidence to warrant a conclusion.\n- 5 -\nI have found evidence against Professor Ademski's claims\nand I have found evidence in favor of his claims. The important\npiece of evidence in favor of Adamski comes from Air Technical\nIntelligence.\nIn the book, \"Flying Saucers Have Landed,\" Adamski reports\nthat on Thursday, 20 November 1952, that he saw a gigantic\ncigar-shaped silvery ship. On page 192 he said, \"Silently,\nbut quickly, it crossed above the crest of the mountains and\nwas lost to my sight, but not before a number of our planes\nroared overhead in an apparent effort to circle this gigantic\nstranger.\" The location of this sighting took place at 10.2\nmiles from Desert Center, California. Mr. Desmond Leslie, co-\nauthor of \"Flying Saucers Have Landed,\" wrote in Adamski's\nother best seller, \"Inside The Space Ships,\" on page 24 the\nfollowing: \"All six witnesses to Adamski's contact--Dr. and\nMrs. George Williamson, Mr. and Mrs. Al Bailey, Mrs, Lucy\nMcGinnis and Mrs. Alice Wells--affirm that low-flying Air\nForce planes were circling and swooping during the whole epi-\nsode; this has never been confirmed or denied by the Air\nForce.\" After the Air Force planes went away, all six wit-\nnesses saw Adamski make contact with a human being from the\nplanet Venus. The Venusian had come from a small scout ship\n(flying saucer) which inturn had come from the gigantic cigar-\nshaped mother ship that had been sighted by Air Force planes.\nI wrote a letter to Air Technical Intelligence Center and\nasked for the truth about this episode. I wanted to know if\nthey had received a UFO report from this area on 20 November\n1952. Wallace W. Elwood, 1st Lt., USAF Assistant Adjutant,\nsaid, \"In response to your letter of 18 July 1956 we are\ninclosing a summary of Project Bluebook Special Report #14,\nwhich was released in October 1955. The full report statisti-\ncally covers all reports up to that date, including a report\nby an Air Force pilot on 20 November 1952 from the general\nvicinity of Desert Center, California.\" I later wrote another\nletter to ATIC and asked the following questions concerning\nthe sighting:\n1. There was supposed to be several Air Force planes in the\narea at the time of the sighting. Did the other pilots also\nsee the UFO--a cigar-shaped silvery object?\n2. According to the six witnesses on the ground, the object\nwas flying at a low altitude. At what altitude did the Air\nForce pilot think that the UFO was flying?\n3. Did radar confirm the sighting?\n4. You told me that Project Bluebook Special Report #14\nstatistically covers this UFO report. What is Air Technical\nIntelligence explaination of this UFO sighting or is it just\nlisted as UNKNOWN in Report #14?\nI received a letter from T. J. Connair, Jr., Major, USAF,\nAdjutant; and he said, \"This is in reply to your letter dated\n15 August 1956, in which you request specific information\nconcerning the reported UFO sighting near Desert Center,\n- 6 -\nCalifornia, on 20 November 1952. It is Air Force policy not to\nrelease details of its UFO investigations. This policy is based\npartly on the volume of inquiries, partly on a desire to protect\nthe privacy of our sources and the information they submit. Your\nletter indicates an intelligent interest in aerial phenomena and\nwas especially appreciated for this reason.\"\nMy questions were of such a general nature that I fail to\nsee that they would be an infringement on the privacy of any\nsource of information, since I asked for no names or information\nof such a technical nature that would reveal a military secret.\nOn the other hand, I can see why ATIC wouldn't want to take time\nto supply details of a UFO investigation to every person who made\nan inquiry, because it would take too much time to answer letters.\nI wouldn't have asked ATIC to supply details to a particular UFO\ninvestigation nor would I be taking your valuable time in order\nto get information on a particular UFO investigation if the in-\nformation I wished to have was only for my own knowledge. The\ninformation I requested was not only for my own knowledge but for\nthe American people. When I complete my investigation of Professor\nAdamski, I had planned to report my findings to the Press. I am\nof the firm opinion that the American people should know the\ntruth about the Adamski story for the following reasons:\n1. Adamski is not suffering from a delusion; his experiences are\nnot a result of a dream. This is proven by the fact that he\nsubmits photographs, & piece of metal from the flying saucer, a\nplaster of Paris copy of the footprints of a Venusian, a copy of\nVenusian writing, and affidavits signed by the witnesses to his\ncontact with a Venusian, in order to prove his claims. In view\nof this, Adamski is either telling the truth or he has deliberate-\nly tried to deceive the public in order to make money.\n2. I have included in this letter excerpts from his book, \"In-\nside The Space Ships,\" in order to show you how he has used\nreligion to create an atmosphere of authenticity. If his story\nis a hoax, it certainly is not as harmless joke but a malicious\nattempt to deceive people for a pecuniary reward. If this be the\ncase, is there not something the Government can do about it in\norder to protect the public?\n3. On the other hand, if Professor Adamski has really met the\nsons and daughters of God and received divine guidance, I feel\nthat the U.S. Government should give his claims official recog-\nnition so that the peoples of the world will know what to believe.\nI hope you agree that it wouldn't be wise or just to keep the\ntruth from the people,\nI hope you see merit in my investigation and will consider\nit worth your time to secure for me the answers to the following\nquestions concerning an ATIC investigation of as UFO report from\nan Air Force pilot from the general vicinity of Desert Center,\nCalifornia, on 20 November 1952:\n1. ACCORDING TO ADAMSKI'S BOOK THERE WAS SUPPOSED \"O BE\nSEVERAL AIR FORCE PLANES IN THE AREA AT THE TIME OF\nTHE SIGHTING. DID THE OTHER PILOTS ALSO SEE THE UFO--\nA CIGAR-SHAPED SILVERY OBJECT?\n- 7 -\n2. ACCORDING TO THE SIX WITNESSES ON THE GROUND, THE OBJECT\nwas FLYING AT A LOW ALTITUDE. AT WHAT ALTITUDE DID THE\nAIR FORCE PILOT THINK THAT THE UFO WAS FLYING?\n3. DID RADAR CONFIRM THE SIGHTING?\n4. SINCE PROJECT BLUEBOOK SPECIAL REPORT #14 STATISTICALLY\nCOVERS THIS UFO REPORT, WHAT IS AIR TECHNICAL INTELLI-\nGENCE OFFICIAL EXPLAINATION OF THIS UFO SIGHTING OR IS\nIT JUST LISTED AS UNKNOWN IN REPORT #14?\nI am sorry I had to take 30 much of your valuable time, Mr.\nPresident, to have you read this very long letter but I know of\nno other way of impressing you with the importance of Professor\nAdamski's claims.
