Dear Mr. Zeitlin:
I am sorry for the delay in writing to you concerning
#
the President's interest in photography. Miss Caffrey
told me about your phone call and the questions you
asked. Here are the answers as best I can give them
to you:
The President did use a Polaroid
camera when he took the photog-
raphers' picture at Gettysburg,
and there is no objection to your

using the trade name.
That day the photographers were at
the farm, and after they had taken
their shots of the President, he
merely said, "Now, let me reverse
the tables and take your picture".
Sometimes the President uses a
Stereo camera, and sometimes he
paints from photographs he has
taken.
You also asked to what extent is the
President an amateur photographer.
The answer to that is -- occasionally.
