generalNotes
The original exhibit text read: "Eleanor Roosevelt gave Franklin D. Roosevelt this memo during the 1944 presidential campaign. After remaindering her husband that Mary McLeod Bethune was campaigning for him, she passed along Bethune's recommendation that he meet with labor leader A. Philip Randolph and Walter White and Channing Tobias of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). She also forwarded Bethune's request regarding the promotion of a Black Army colonel. "
