"The original exhibit text read: \"In early 1934, a major federal anti-lynching bill was under consideration in Congress, but it faced a likely filibuster by Southern Democrats in the Senate. Seeking to break the logjam, National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Executive Secretary Walter White sought a meeting with Franklin D. Roosevelt. After an unsuccessful effort to arrange an appointment through Franklin D. Roosevelt's office staff, White reached out to Eleanor Roosevelt for help. In this letter to presidential secretary Marvin McIntyre, White informed McIntyre that the First Lady would speak directly to Franklin D. Roosevelt on his behalf. Eleanor Roosevelt arranged a White House tea for May 7, 1934, where White could discuss the bill with the President and her. \""
