My dear Mr. McIntyre:-
Enclosed herewith find a photo taken while the
President was visitiong this post and the Statue of
Liberty on October 28, 1936 and I thought he would like
to have it. If you don't remember me, I met you at the
Nelson House in Poughkeepsie on the night of November
2nd, and I was more than pleased to think that I met
the President as I did not have the chance to meet him
at the Statue on October 28th. Meeting him there was
quite a coincident as I met him there in 1903 when I
worked there as a Bell Boy. Hoping to see you in Pough-
keepsie some other time, I remain,
Very truly yours,

Writes Miss LeHand that she is sending one copy of the Year Book of the Dutchess
County Historical Society for 1936 to Hyde Park and one here in Miss LeHand's care.
Both copies are for the President. -- The President wrote Miss Reynolds on Jan. 16,
1937, that he has not had a chance to write to her for months and meanwhile the
splendid year book has come. Says he has sometimes wondered whether there is enough
material to last the Historical Society throughout the years, but the more welook
for the more we discover. Suggests that she arrange to come down here some week-end
after February 9, and indicates that after this inauguration and this session of
Congress are over, he expects to have more time for non-governmental work.

Writes Mr. McIntyre that some time ago while the President
was in South America, he received from Thomas Sayling, Pres., Canadian
Press Vallery, a copy of The Tiny Tattler, the smallest newspaper in
Canada, which is published by a Nova Scotian youngster and really pays
its way as & weekly paper. Devoted first sheet to President's picture.
Thought it might amine the President. Says some months ago he sent the
President a copy of the original issue of "The rederalist", and wonders
if it was properly received. Speaks of the sadness of Dus Connerich's
douth. - On Jan. 20, Mr. Armour wrote again stating they have just finish-
ed listening over the radio to the great Inaugural Address of the President.
Asks again about "The Federalist". Says be expects to see them soon as he
will be in Washington re the St. -ewrence waterways. - On Jan. 21, Mr.
McIntyre replied stating he regretted their delay in replying but when this
book WAS received it was during the campaign days when everyone WSS traveling.
Says it arrived in good shape and is now reposing among the President's books
Says he knows the President was delighted to have it. Very interested in "The

Ojai, California,
December 18, 1936.
Mr. Franklin D. Roosevelt, President
United States of America,
White House,
Washington, D. C.
Dear Mr. President:
For many years it has been the custom of the Ojai Bakery
to send to the President of the United States a specially
decorated fruit cake for the Christmas season. Always in
the past this presentation has been made in the name of
some organization, the county, the state, or some smaller
group of admirers. This year, however, we wish to present
our cake as a personal gift from Mr. "Bill" Baker, Master
baker whose handiwork it is.
Mr. Baker has this year taken special care that the cake
might be particularly delicious and that the decorations
should be even more attractive than in the past in order
that this confection may in some slight degree at least
convey to you his great admiration and regard for both you
and your efforts for the American people.
We hope, Mr. President, that you will enjoy this cake as
much as we enjoy presenting it and as much as Mr. Baker
has enjoyed preparing it.
Yours very truly.
