Mr. Franklin Delano Rocsevelt
President of the United States
Washington, D. C.
My dear Mr. President:
May I not take this opportunity of extending to
you the season's greetings and to tell you that I am
one of millions of Americans who daily pray that God
will give you strength and wisdom in these trying days
that are before all Americans,
I want to also assure you, Mr. President, that not
only am I offering lip service but I have also written
to the Commadant of the Ninth Naval District offering
him my services in this war. I was a member of the
naval force in the last war.
The American Flag, which I am sending you together
with this letter, is an article that we manufacture here
in Chicago. I hope that you will find a place to
display this sparkling, scintillating, waving United
States Flag.
May God protect and save you.

visions of the heart of St. Vincent de Paul
and daily manifestations of Our Lord in the
Sacrament of His Love, but it was toward
the close of that memorable year, 1830, that
she was blessed with the three apparitions
of Mary Immaculate, to which we owe the
Miraculous Medal.
The apparitions concerning the Medal
were all very much alike; their nature,
therefore, may be learned from a summary
of Blessed Catherine's account of the heav-

November 27th:

Dear Mr. President,
Please accept my humble
gift for your birthday. It is only
a book of poems, but it comes from
the depth of my heart.
You are a modern Lincoln,
but you have a far greater task. You
will have to liberate so many small
countries overseas. You will have to
free them from the lash of tyranny
and persecution.
You are the only ray of
hope to the oppressed and unfortunate
people who met with such terrible
disaster.

Whitehouse, Washington, D. C.
Honorable Sir;
the
I have in my possession (in my opinion) one of the

rarest flags of the United States of America in exist-
ence.
xort
This flag I refer to is approximately 14 feet long and
4"
has in its field 35 stars, which would indicate that it
was made in approximately 1863, at which time the 35th
state, West Virginia was entered into the Union and it
is really a glorious flag.
Would you do me the honor of accepting this flag as a
gift to you and Mrs. Roosevelt, as a token of my high
appreciation of the priviledge of serving and living
in this wonderful country of ours, headed by such an
able executive.

President re the Spode Winston Churchill Toby Jug sent to him by Mrs. Mack. Writes
that since that time, Mrs. Mack has seen the Churchill Toby Jug made by Royal Doulton

and thinks the likness so much better that she has asked them to send him one of
these for the purpose of comparison, as it is her wish that the President choose the
the one he prefers.
Under date of 4-13-42 Miss Tully wrote to Mr. Cuthbertson and also to
Mrs. Mack, saying the President is quite pleased with the Spode Jug and wishes to keep it.

HISTORY OF THE SPECIAL, HIGHLY BLESSED BADGE OF THE
SACRED HEART
About six years ago Sister Mary Antonia, now at Precious Blood
Convent, Maria Stein, Ohio, was seriously injured in an automobile
accident in Lima, Ohio. She was taken to St. Rita's Hospital for
treatment. In 8 few days a priest came to her. He said: "Sister,
I'm lending you this Sacred Heart Badge. I know you have received
many Sacred Heart Badges, but this one is different. It is one
blessed by our Lord, HIMSELF! When a certain saintly person blesses
them He appears, and they are blessed jointly." Sister Antonia ac-
cepted the Badge, and was cured. The next day she lent it to a
patient in the same hospital, who was to be operated on for a serious
ailment. Strange but true, the patient was well the next day - dis-
missed without an operation.
Some weeks later Sister Mary Antonia was transferred to St.
Elizabeth's Hospital, Dayton, Ohio. Again she left the Badge to a
patient, and again the patient was relieved without an operation -
cured! Mrs.Hegman and the writer were vitally interested in these
marvelous cures. The Badge was also lent to us. We placed it over
our front door. Why? Because on account of at relative who had be-
come involved in serious financial difficulties, our beautiful home
was at stake, and again, strange to say, out of this relative's 85-
tate of $250,000, this home of ours was the only thing that was
saved, a real miracle!
After that we started to cover and distribute the Badges, these
Treasures! To date more than 100,000 Badges have been sent to all
over the world, to Europe, Australia and South America - some to our
late Holy Father, Plus XI, who acknowledged them with his photo -
autographed. The Archbishop of Montevideo, Uruguay, South America,
1s a most ardent correspondent and has received hundreds of the
Badges.
And what has this miraculously blessed Sacred Heart Badge ac-
complished for us? I wish I had the time and opportunity to tell
of the many favors reported by those who have received the Badge
and have confidence in our ever good Sacred Heart. Hundreds of
cases have been reported. Relief in mental, moral and physical, as
well as spiritual distress; relief in cases of financial and physical
ailments. Father D. R. Harnett, All Saints Church, Chicago, Ill.
could tell of many wonderful instances.
I do not know who the saintly person is who joins our Lord; it
is for ecclesiastical reasons withheld; but well do I remember what
that saintly Jesuit, Reverend Charles J. Reemer, 635 Sycamore Street,
Cincinnati, Ohio, only recently told me: "If I were permitted, you
would be the first one to whom I would tell the details about the
blessing; suffice to say they are miraculously blessed, and are more
precious than a relic!"
Write called on Sister Mary Antonia, Precious Blood Convent,
Maria Stein, Ohio (small village about 60 miles north of Dayton)
I visited her for two hours and every incident as stated was pro-
nounced absolutely true.
The enclosed Sacred Heart Badge has been miraculously blessed.
When the priest whose identity will not be divulged goes to his room
to bless the Badges and starts to say the words of the Sign of the
Cross, the SACRED HEART APPEARS AND THE BADGES ARE BLESSED BY HIM
AND THE PRIEST, TOGETHER!

We pray for his Excellency the Governor

We recommend likewise to Thy unbounded
