My dear Miss Le Hand:
I am enclosing my latest catadog of Rare Books which
I believe contains several items which would be of
interest not only to the President, but also to Mrs.
Roosevelt.
I refer especially to items 32 to 61 listed under the
heading, "Business and Finance"; item No. 124 and 125;
items 129 to 156 listed under "Government"; 180 to 188
under "Andrew Jackson"; 190 to 215 under "Judiciary";
306 to 311, under "New York"; 327 and 328 under "Pirates";
329 to 334 under "Politics"; 604 to 607 listed under
the heading, "Women".
A most interesting Sea book is being sent to me entitled
"Sea Laws" and was printed in the 17th Century. As soon
as it arrives, I will send you a description of it for
I think the President may be interested in learning its
title.
If you could call this catalog to the attention of the
President and also to Mrs Roosevelt, the favor would be
greatly appreciated.
Thanking you, I am,
Sincerely,

Honarable Sir !
Please permit me to take this means of manifesting
my gratitude for the privilege of being permitted to
live in these grand and glorious United States. I left
Russia after the war and built my business in Germany, where
I prospered for over 20 years, but due to the activities
of the new regime, I could not continue there as a Jew.-
I deem it a privilege and an honor to be a resident
of this free country and in appreciation, I am sending you
under separate cover a birthday gift which is of my own
making and I trust you will accept it in the same spirit that
it is being sent you. I hope it will arrive in time for your
natal day.-
