Original Exhibition Caption: In January 1934, Albert Einstein was a guest of the Roosevelts at the White House. During his visit, Einstein wrote this poem and presented it to the President. The State Department provided FDR with an English translation: In the Capital's proud glory Where Destiny unfolds her story, Fights a man with happy pride Who solution can provide. Of our talk of yester night There are cordial mem'ries bright; In remembrance of our meeting, Let me send you this rhymed greeting A.E.
