McClure I. PURPOSE To discuss the long-range political implications of the abortion issue. II. BACKGROUND Following your veto of the Labor-HHS and the District of Columbia appropriations bills because of objectionable abortion language, in late October Congresswoman Snowe and seven other "pro-choice" Republican congresswomen requested a meeting with you to discuss the long-range political dynamics of the abortion issue. You agreed to meet with the four members listed below. They have indicated that they know your stand on this issue will not change, however, they still want to share their views. This meeting is mainly a listening session. III.
