The President: Hello, Hosni. I just wanted to call to thank you
for the warm message that you sent on January 20. I really
appreciated it. I look forward to working with you on both
bilateral and regional issues, and to building on the good
relationship that you and President Reagan had.
President Mubarak: Thank you. I watched your Inauguration on
television from beginning to end. I am very pleased that we will
be working together. We will continue to do our best for peace
in the Middle East.
The President: I hope we can work together to strengthen the
moderate consensus in the region. There are still difficulties
in the path of peace, but there may also be some opportunities.
I value your judgment, and would welcome your advice and
suggestions.
President Mubarak: I am sure we will provide very good support
for your policy.
The President: Thanks again for your message.
President Mubarak: Please give our best regards to Mrs. Bush.
The President: And please give our very best to Suzanne. How
are your two boys?
President Mubarak: Fine. One is in London, and the other is
here in Cairo.
The President: It was very good to talk to you. Goodbye.
President Mubarak: Goodbye.
