The President: How are you?
President Bendjedid: Well, and how are you?
The President: Very well. If I sound different, it's because I
have a cold. My voice is a little hoarse.
President Bendjedid: I hope you get over it quickly.
The President: I am calling to thank you for your warm greeting
on my inauguration. I recall with great pleasure our personal
and special relationship which I want to continue now that I am
President.
President Bendjedid: Thank you SO much. It is a great pleasure
for me to speak to you. Our friendship, which is both personal
and professional, is important for the present and future
development of our relationship.
The President: I hope you will contact me if you have any
problems. I will never forget that luncheon that you hosted in
your home with your wife for Barbara and me. It was very special
and left me with a lasting impression. Someday soon I hope to
reciprocate.
President Bendjedid: Thank you. I would be honored to contact
you when the need arises for an exchange of views on issues if it
is warranted.
The President: Good. Thank you again for your message. I look
forward to working with you.
President Bendjedid: I too, with great pleasure.
The President: Au revoir, mon ami.
