The President initiated the call. (U)
The President: Hello, sir. (U)
Sheikh Issa: Greetings. We are very proud of your support and
grateful for your understanding of the situation. (U)
The President: Well, you should be very proud of the unified
stand at the Arab League Summit. You are standing with Saudi
Arabia and others who are determined that Saddam Hussein will not
prevail. We should all stay together in making sanctions work.
(C)
Sheikh Issa: We stand with the United States. We are very proud
of our long friendship. (U)
The President: Saddam Hussein has tried to turn the Arab world
against us. The results of the Arab League Summit are so good,

Sheikh Issa: With the help of the United States, we are

The President: I am grateful for that. I still remember my
